Curfew continues in Muzaffarnagar town; rural areas of district still face sporadic violence

In Uttar Pradesh, curfew continues in Muzaffarnagar town, while rural areas of the district are still facing sporadic violence. The district administration said, army and paramilitary forces have been deployed in every village containing two communities. This has yielded results as the reports of group clashes have come down. One person was killed in Chhichenda village under Meerapur police station area of Muzaffarnagar district this morning. The death toll in the recent violence in Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat and Shamli districts has risen to 43. ASP Baghpat Sunil Kumar told AIR that a woman who was injured in attack on 5th September has succumbed to her injuries this forenoon.Meanwhile, the administration has distributed essential commodities in the curfew bound areas. People are facing shortage of essential commodities. Senior administrative officials are keeping a close watch on the situation.
