In Madhya Pradesh, curfew was clamped at Bareli tehsil of Raisen district today after a violent protest of farmers.The farmers are dissatisfied with the alleged slow pace of purchase of wheat at minimum support price among other things. Angry farmers staged road blockade at tehsil headquarters.After clashes between farmers and police, police resorted to lathi charge and opened fire in the air. District administration clamped curfew as the situation worsened later. Several farmers and some policemen including Raisen SP are injured in the clashes. A farmer had allegedly committed suicide on Sunday in Raisen as his wheat was not purchased at the wheat procurement centre. The purchase of wheat at minimum support price has been hit badly in the state due to the alleged shortage of gunny bags. Several lakhs metric ton wheat has also been spoiled due to unseasonal rains at different parts of the state in last two-three days.
