The Culture Secretary Sangita Gairola has called for upliftment of the socio-economic conditions of the weavers in the SAARC region. Inaugurating a week-long exhibition, titled Wheel of Life, in New Delhi today, she said the exhibition will provide an opportunity to the handloom weavers to help them find new markets and their trends. Handloom products including traditional Sarees, Jute Bags from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka were on display at the exhibition attracting anumber of visitors.

AIR Correspondent reports that the objective of the exhibition is to execute and display the skills of the weavers. It will also highlight the means for promoting knowledge, new techniques and designs.
