CTTC unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrests 6 members of banned terror group HuJI

<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222;">The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 6 members of the banned terror group Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) from different parts of the capital city Dhaka on Friday. Briefing media in Dhaka today, CTTC Chief Md. Asaduzzaman said that the terror group was planning some 'big event' in Bangladesh which was foiled with their arrest.</span> </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Giving details about the arrested militants, the CTTC Chief said, one of the arrested militants named Fakhrul Islam had received training in arms and bomb-making in the Al-Qaeda camp in Afghanistan. After the end of the Afghan war, he returned to Bangladesh via India and was trying to reorganise the HuJI to launch a big attack in the country. Police intercepted their conversation which led to their arrest.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">The CTTC Chief said that Fakhrul visited the Rohingya camp in the Cox's Bazar area of Bangladesh several times to recruit members for HuJi. He also provided big financial help to lure people into HuJi.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222;">Another arrested militant, Abdul Al Mamun who worked as an Imam in the Laxmipur area of Bangladesh ran an encrypted channel to provide radicalising content to the youth. The police also claimed to intercept some conversations with foreign-based persons during this exercise.</span></p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>
