CSIR-CFTRI to deliver emergency food packets, drinking water to flood-hit Tamil Nadu

Stepping up for immediate support, CSIR-CFTRI (Central Food Technological Research Institute) is getting ready to deliver emergency food packets and drinking water to flood hit areas of Tamil Nadu. CSIR-CFTRI is delivering its first batch of supplies tonight.<br/><br/>The products being despatched in the first trench are 6000 chapattis with tomato chutney and pickle, 10000 portions of Imli poha, 11000 buns and biscuits, 5000 unit packs of corn flakes and 25000 bottles of drinking water. The products will be reached by road to CSIR-CLRI in Chennai which will be the nodal hub for distribution for food from CSIR-CFTRI to various districts of Tamil Nadu. <br/><br/>The production of disaster management foods will continue in CSIR-CFTRI for the next few days till such time the situation is under control. The institute has earlier delivered foods catering to emergency requirements during floods at Uttarakand, Tsunami disaster and the Kargil war.
