CSIR achieves completion of Human Genome Sequencing

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research,CSIR has achieved completion of first ever Human Genome Sequencing in the country.The sequencing of the genome with conjunction of genome variation programme will help manufacturing low cost affordable healthcare and predictive medicine in future of the people.<br/><br/>Briefing reporters in New Delhi yesterday, the Science and Technology Minister, Mr Pritviraj Chavan said that this scientific research opens up newer possibilities in disease diagnostics, treatment and sustaining low-cost drugs in the matrket.<br/> <br/>He said that with this achievement the nation is now in the league of select few countries like United States, China, Canada, United Kingdom and Korea who have completed the sequence of Human Genome in the year 2003. Scientists of CSIR at the Institute of Genomics and Integrative biology,IGIB have performed such tasks on an anonymous healthy citizen.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>
