Crucial NCP meet to decide on Ajit Pawar resignation today

NCP supremo Sharad Pawar will hold a crucial meeting to decide on the resignation of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in Mumbai today.

He will be meeting party MLAs and Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to discuss the issue. Our correspondent reports that NCP chief Sharad Pawar arrived in Mumbai this morning to hold a crucial meeting to decide the issue of resignation of Maharashtra deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

The meeting will take place today evening at Vidan Bhavan in Mumbai. He is also expected to discuss the issue with Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.

Ajit Pawar’s resignation came amid alleged irregularities in granting administrative approvals for projects involving several crores of rupees during his decade-long tenure as state Irrigation Minister.

He also resigned as minister for finance and planning and power but would continue to remain leader of the NCP legislature party. Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan has said that he would take a decision on Ajit Pawar’s resignation only after speaking to senior leaders of both the congress and NCP.
