The crucial all party meeting on Jammu and Kashmir is now in progress in New Delhi. Representatives of all major parties are taking part in the meeting to build consensus on steps to resolve the problems facing the state. The meeting convened by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is being attended by several Union Ministers besides the Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Gulam Nabi Azad, National Conference leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and senior BJP leaders L.K. Advani and Mrs. Sushma Swaraj. SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, LJP leader Ram Vilas Paswan and CPIM leader Prakash Karat are also participating in the meeting. AIR correspondent says that restoration of peace in the violence hit Kashmir valley, restarting dialogue with all sections of people in the state under the framework of Indian Constitution, package for rehabilitation of the victims of violence and generating employment opportunities for youth and the Armed Forces Special Powers Act are among the issues that are likely to come up for discussions at the meeting.
