Government has said that Central Reserve Police Force, CRPF's role in the naxal operation in Chhattisgarh was transparent and upfront.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of cabinet briefing in New Delhi today Home Minister P Chidambaram, however, said he was deeply sorry if any innocent person has been killed in the 27th June incident.

In reply to a query, he said that the operation was conducted under state police direction and it is up to the state government to decide whether or not it has to initiate any inquiry.

Chidambaram also pointed out that six jawans were also injured in the firing from the otherside.
