The bi-weekly Cross LoC trade via Poonch-Rawalakote road in Poonch district of Jammu division was suspended on the 2nd day the trade following protests by traders of Poonch. The traders were protesting ban imposed on import of ajwain by the Trade Facilitation Authorities on Wednesday. However, traders in Pak Occupied Kashmir off-loaded goods sent from Poonch in 22 trucks. Quoting official sources, AIR correspondent reports that the traders had been told last week that ajwain did not fall in the list of 21 items approved for import export by the two sides. Following the protests by Poonch traders , the authorities sent back 18 Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK)trucks without off-loading. The imported items, returned for the first time since launch of Cross-LoC trade on Poonch-Rawalakote route, were valued at over 2 crore rupees. On the first day of the bi-weekly Cross LoC Trade (Tuesday) tradable goods worth 1.87 crore rupees were exchanged by the traders of two sides.
