In Punjab, crops on 90 thousand acres of land has been damaged in recent floods. Most affected districts are Kapurthala, Tarn Taran and Fazlika.Paddy on 40 thousand acres got damaged in Kapurthala district, on 30 thousand acres in Tarn Taran and paddy and cotton were damaged in Fazilka district on 13 thousand acres of land.Although there was no loss of life reported but more than 260 houses got damaged in Fazilka district.Deputy Commissioners of the affected district have submitted preliminary reports of damage to the government. Roads and government buildings have also been damaged in Fazlika and Kapurthala districts. Damage occurred due to heavy flow of water in rivers.Meanwhile, Bathinda, Manas and Ferozepur districts witnessed heavy rain in last 24 hours and cotton crop has been damaged heavily in these areas as this is a cotton belt of the state.Bhakhra, Pong and Ranjit Sagar dam reservoirs are getting more water from the upper regions, causing increase in water level in these reservoirs continuously.
