Voters in Croatia are going to the polls today to elect a successor to President Stipe Mesic who steps down in February. More than twelve candidates are vying for the job.It is unlikely any of them will get more than fifty per cent of the vote needed to avoid a second round of voting in January. Reports suggest concern over the economy and corruption will be the two issues for most in Croatian voters minds.
