‘Critising judiciary would harm democracy’

The Minister of State for Agriculture, Food and Consumer Affairs K V Thomas has observed that publicly criticising the judiciary would weaken and destablilise the democratic system in the country. He was inaugurating the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Central Administrative Tribunal in Kochi today. Noting that the main responsibility of the judiciary is to analyse legislations, the Minister said judiciary cannot be blamed when legislations are passed without in-depth discussions and debate. Referring to the frequent interruption of business in Parliament and legislative assemblies, he said many members are not serious about law making and in finding solutions through debates.
