Crisis in Karnataka BJP deepens as rebels set July 5 deadline for replacing CM Gowda

The crisis in Karnataka BJP deepened on Sunday with rebel faction led by B S Yeddyurappa setting a July 5 deadline for replacing the Chief Minister D V Sadanand Gowda with their nominee Jagdish Shettar. Talking to reporters in Bangaluru, Karnataka Minister Raju Gowda said that they will wait till July 5 and if their demands are not addressed, the High Command will be responsible for the consequences. Nine Ministers, loyal to the former Chief Minister Yeddyurappa, had submitted their resignations on last Friday.

AIR Correspondent reports that Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda is likely to visit Delhi today to meet Central leadership of the Party in a bid to resolve the crisis. Before leaving for New Delhi on Sunday, Party General Secretary In-Charge of Karnataka Affairs, Dharmendra Pradhan reiterated that the crisis will be resolved at the earliest.
