The government has said that the Criminal Law Amendment Bill will be tabled in Parliament before the 22nd of this month. The Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill , replaces the word 'rape' by the phrase 'sexual assault' and seeks to widen the scope of the offence. Severe punishments have also been included. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio, the Union Minister for Law and Justice, Ashwani Kumar said, final touches to the bill is already over and the Bill will be taken to the Cabinet shortly. After the cabinet approval, it will be taken to both houses of Parliament.
