The Home Minister Mr. P.Chidambaram has said crime in Delhi is well under control despite marginal increase in incidents. Replying to a question in Lok Sabha the incidents of crime per lakh of population has come down in the last decade. He said while in 2001 crime per lakh was over 392 it has come down to 281 at present. He said a series of measures including improving policing, recruitment of more policemen, better coordination with states bordering the National capital will improve the situation further. Denying allegations that the situation is worsening, the home minister said Delhi is as safe as any other city in the country.
