Crime against SC, ST & Women declines in 2015

The crime against Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Women have declined in 2015 as compared to 2014. The report – Crime in India, 2015 which was released by Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi revealed that 10 thousand 914 incidents of crime were reported against STs as against 11 thousand 451 cases in 2014, registering a decline of 4.7 per cent. <br/><br/>Nearly 45 thousand crime related incidents were reported against SCs in 2015 as compared to over 47 thousand cases in 2014, registering a decline of 4.4 per cent. It said, over 3.27 lakh cases have been recorded against women in 2015 as against over 3.37 lakh cases in 2014 which reflects a decline of 3.1 per cent. <br/><br/>However, cases of human trafficking has increased by 25.8 per cent in 2015. The report also said that crime against children has also gone up from over 89 thousand in 2014 to over 94 thousand in 2015. It said, out of 46.46 lakh cases, investigation completed in nearly 43.46 lakh cases.<br/><br/> The NCRB which publishes the report contains information on police recorded criminal cases. The data has been collected from 36 States and 53 cities having population of more than 10 lakhs.
