Cricket:India beat Oz by 8 wkts;take one-nil lead in four match series

Hosts India defeated Australia by 8 wickets in the first cricket Test at Chennai to take a one-nil lead in the four match series. The visitors Australia today resumed their second innings at the overnight score of 232 for 9, on the final day today, with Moises Henriques and Nathan Lyon at the crease. Nathan Layon was the last wicket to fall this morning, as the Aussies were bundled out for 241, giving a target of just 50 runs for India to chase. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who had bagged 7 wickets in the first innings, continued his magic with the ball, scalping 5 wickets. Ravinder Jadeja took 3 wickets, while Harbhajan Singh who was playing his 100th Test, claimed 2 wickets.
Needing just 50 runs to win, Team India lost both its openers, Virender Sehwag and Murali Vijay at the score of 36. Later, batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar and Cheteshwar Pujara steered India home. The hosts now go into the next Test beginning from 2nd March at Hyderabad, with an edge.
Yesterday, replying to Australia's 380, Team India were all out for 572 in the first innings. Skipper MS Dhoni played a captain's knock to score a blistering 224, giving India a good platform at a crucial moment. Dhoni was adjudged man of the match.
