West Indies set a target of 305 runs for Ireland in opening Pool-B game of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Earlier, sent in to bat at the Saxton Oval in Nelson, New Zealand, West Indies posted 304 for 7 riding on Lendl Simmons' 102 and Darren Sammy's 89. Spinner George Dockrell bagged the maximum of 3 wickets. He took the wickets of Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels and Denesh Ramdin, and at one stage, West Indies were 87 for 5. But, the 154-run sixth wicket stand between Simmons and Sammy resurrected the West Indian innings and they posted 304 for 7.Yesterday, Team India opened its defence for the World Cup crown with a stunning 76-run victory over arch-rivals Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval. With the victory, India maintained their unbeaten record against Pakistan in the World Cup.
