In the ICC Cricket World Cup yesterday, while South Africa eased past the Netherlands in their Group-B clash, Pakistan survived a major scare against Minnows Canada in their Group-A encounter. At the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Skipper Shahid Afridi's yet another scintillating performance with the ball helped Pakistan beat the Canadians by 46 runs. Man of the match and the leading wicket taker of the tournament so far, Shahid Afridi recorded a superb 5 for 23. Chasing a modest Pakistani target of 184 runs, Canada capitulated for a mere 138 with more than 7 overs unused. In the other match, South Africa thrashed the Netherlands by a mammoth 231 runs at Mohali yesterday. In a match that featured two glorious centuries by AB De Villiers and Hashim Amla, the Dutch were all out in the 35th over for just 120 runs. AB De Villiers was adjudged man of the match. Today, New Zealand will play Zimbabwe at Ahmedabad while Bangladesh will take on the West Indies in a day night match at Dhaka.
