In the ICC Cricket World Cup, Sri Lankan Pacer Lasith Malinga bagged six wickets, including a hat-trick, as the co-hosts eased past Kenya in a Group-A encounter at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo yesterday. Avenging their 2003 World Cup humiliation, Sri Lanka defeated Minnows Kenya by 9 wickets overhauling a meagre target of 143 with more than 31 overs unused. Opener, Upul Tharanga top scored with 67 not out. Opting to bat, Kenya lost both their openers for just 8 runs. Obuya brothers, Collins and David Obuya were the only batsmen who had some joy with the bat but before Lasith Malinga, who recorded his career best figures of 6 for 38, cleaned most of the Kenyan players with his dangerous inswinging yorkers. Malinga was adjudged the man of the match. England will today meet Ireland in a Group-B Day-Night encounter, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. All India Radio will broadcast live commentary on the match. The commentary can be heard on Rajdhani and FM Gold Channels from 2 PM onwards.
