Cricket WC: Lanka thrash Kenya by 9 wickets

In the ICC Cricket World Cup today, Sri Lanka crushed minnows Kenya by nine wickets in a Group 'A' match in Colombo today. Kenya elected to bat after winning the toss at the R. Premadasa Stadium. But they found the Lankan pace duo of Malinga and Nuwan Kulasekara too hot to handle and were all out for a meagre 142 in 43.4 overs. The hosts cruised to 146 for one in just 18.4 overs to record their second win in three matches. Lasith Malinga made a grand entry into the World Cup by notching up an unprecedented second hat-trick in the mega event. Playing his first match of the tournament, he finished with a career-best six-wicket haul and was declared 'Man of the Match'. Malinga also became the first bowler to take a hat-trick in World Cup for the second time. He achieved the feat in the 2007 edition against South Africa. Tomorrow, England will meet Ireland in a Group-B Day-Night encounter, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. All India Radio will broadcast live commentary on the match. The commentary can be heard on Rajdhani Channel and FM Gold from 2 P.M. onwards.
