The Twenty-20 World Cup Cricket tournament kicks off at Hambantota in Sri Lanka this evening. 12 teams – divided into four groups – are participating in the tournament. India have been given a place in Group-A, alongside Afghanistan and defending champions England. Group-B comprises of Australia, West Indies and Ireland; while hosts Sri Lanka along with South Africa and Zimbabwe feature in Group-C. The teams in Group-D are Pakistan, New Zealand and Bangladesh. The top two teams from each group will advance to the super-eight stage and the final match will be played on October 7.In the opening fixture of the tournament today, hosts Sri Lanka will take on Zimbabwe in Hambantota at 7.30 PM (IST). In tomorrow's matches, Australia will meet Ireland at 3.30 PM, while India begin their campaign against Afghanistan at 7:30 PM (IST).
