In Cricket, Gujarat recorded its second successive win in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, beating Goa by eight wickets in an Elite Group-A game, in Surat today. Gujarat had started its campaign with a three-wicket win over Chhattisgarh. Opting to bat at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Goa was bundled out for 159 in 45.4 overs, with Gujarat's slow-left arm spinner Hardik Patel's three for 34 doing the bulk of the damage. Gujarat then chased the target in 27.4 overs with half-centuries from Priyank Panchal and Bhargav Merai.
In another match at the Holkar International Stadium in Indore, Left-arm pacer Cheepurapalli Stephen's three for 46 and medium pacer Girinath Reddy's two for 33 helped set up an easy seven-wicket win for Andhra over Tamil Nadu in the Elite Group-B encounter.
Electing to field, Andhra bundled out Tamil Nadu for just 176 before Ashwin Hebbar slammed a brilliant unbeaten 101 to help his side chase down the target in just 29.1 overs.
