The cremation of Siachen braveheart Lance Naik Hanumanthappa will take place at his native village Bettadur in Hubli, Karnataka today. Last respects will be paid to 33-year old martyr at the Nehru Maidan in Hubli this morning and cremation will be held in the afternoon with state and military honours.<br/><br/>Hanumanthappa breathed his last Thursday in New Delhi. The Lance Naik was miraculously found alive after remaining buried under huge mass of snow for six days at Siachen Glacier.<br/><br/>President, Vice President and Prime Minister have condoled the passing away of Hanumanthappa. In his message, President Pranab Mukherjee said, the Lance Naik was a hero who demonstrated exemplary will power and courage in the face of adversity and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.<br/><br/>Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari in his message said, Hanumanthappa symbolizes the grit, determination and the indomitable spirit of the Indian Armed Forces.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, death of the Lance Naik has left the country sad and devastated. In a tweet, he said, he is proud that martyrs like Hanumanthappa served India.<br/><br/>Congress President Sonia Gandhi also expressed deep shock and grief at the passing away of Hanumanthappa.<br/>Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjeet Singh and others paid their last respects and laid wreath on the mortal remains of Lance Naik Hanumanthappa at Brar Square in Delhi Cantt.
