Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu has said, credible information with confirmation of facts and figures is an effective ammunition against social evils including corruption, apart from serving the nation in upholding its integration.<br/><br/>He visited the All India Radio, Chennai this evening and planted a tree sapling in its premises in view of its 79 years of seamless service as a public broadcaster. Later, in his radio talk to the listeners, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said All India Radio News is known for credibility, defying the urge of sensationalism.<br/><br/>He asked the staff of the public broadcasters including the AIR and Doordarshan to strive to uphold the rich cultural heritage and traditional values of the nation through their programmes . The minister commended them for effectively functioning within the confines of the ethical codes, despite facing stiff competition from private media.
