In Nepal, with just a day left for the fifth round of voting to elect a new Prime Minister, the CPN(Maoist) has said it is ready to adopt a flexible approach and withdraw its candidate from the electoral race if all political parties including the Nepali Congress makes a firm commitment to form a national consensus government before or after the fifth round of voting. In a letter written to the CPN(UML) in response to its request made to the Maoists to withdraw from the electoral fray to build national consensus, Maoist Chairman Prachanda however sought the support of the UML in Wednesday's election if the parties failed to reach a consensus.Talking to newsmen, Maoist Vice Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha said his party has already kept its options open for forming a national unity, adding that that Maoist being the largest party in the constituent assembly should be allowed to lead such a government.Meanwhile, parliamentary party meeting of the CPN(UML) held on Monday urged both the Maoist Chairman Prachanda and Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel to withdraw from the electoral race to form a national consensus government, while maintaining its stand to remain neutral in Wednesday's voting.Maoist Chairman Prachanda and his Nepali Congress rival Ram Chandra Poudel are contesting the election for the fifth round on Wednesday after four previous rounds of voting failed to elect a new Prime Minister following the resignation of Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal from the post on 30th of June.
