In Nepal, CPN(UML), the third largest party in the constituent assembly today urged both the Prime Ministerial candidates – Maoist Chairman Prachanda and Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel to withdraw from the electoral race to pave way for forming a national consensus government. The central committee meeting of the CPN(UML) held in Kathmandu this afternoon decided to continue its effort to build consensus among the parties to complete the peace process and drafting of the new constitution. Talking to newsmen, CPN (UML) leader Pradeep Geywali said his party will continue to remain neutral in the coming fifth round of polling scheduled for 18th of this month to elect a new Prime Minister if the parties failed to arrive at a consensus to form a national consensus government.AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that the CPN(UML) central committee decision came in the wake of four failed attempts to elect a new Prime Minister following the resignation of Mr. Madhav Kumart Nepal on June 30.Meanwhile, Nepali Congress has ruled out the possibility of party candidate withdrawing from the electoral fray. Talking to newsmen in Kathmandu today, Nepali Congress Acting President Sushil Koirala said his party cannot trust the Unified CPN (Maoist) until it provides a tangible commitment to implement the past agreements on peace process, dismantle the paramilitary structure its youth wing and return the seized properties.
