In Nepal, the Unified CPN (Maoist), the largest party in the constituent assembly has expressed satisfaction over the progress made by the high-level taskforce formed to iron out differences among the parties over the contentious issues relating to drafting of the new constitution. Maoist Chairman Prachanda is heading the seven-member high level task force as its coordinator. To speed up the process of drafting the new statute, a seven-member high level task force consisting of representatives of major political parties was formed recently to iron out difference among the parties on contentious issues of the concept papers and submit a report to the constituent assembly by 24th of this month. Even though the Constituent Assembly has set May 2011 as the new deadline for completing the task of framing a new constitution, the political parties remain deadlocked over the formation of a new government.
