In Nepal, the opposition Unified CPN (Maoist) have decided to withdraw its proposed indefinite nation-wide bandh from 24th of this month. In a press statement, Maoist Chairman Prachanda said the party has decided to withdraw its proposed bandh as the high level political mechanism has attached high priority to arrive at consensus on ending the political impasse and for timely drafting of the constitution and conclusion of the peace process. The Maoist Chairman however said that his party's other protest programmes would remain in force.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the meeting of the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM) today endorsed its terms of reference and discussed ways to end the political deadlock that has overshadowed the major tasks of taking the peace process to a logical end and drafting the new constitution.<br/><br/>Chairman of CPN (UML) Jhalanath Khanal said the meeting has forged at a consensus to include representatives from the other parties in the political mechanism and the Prime Minister as an invitee member.
