In Nepal, the opposition CPN (Maoist) yesterday declared two more states, taking the total number to ten, as part of their third phase of anti-government protest.<br/><br/>Maoist Chairman Prachanda declared the Newa autonomous state at Basantipur in Kathmandu valley, while the party Deputy Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai announced Tamsaling autonomous state at Nuwakot.<br/><br/>Till now, the Maoists have declared Limbuwan, Kochila, Seti-Mahakali, Tharuwan, Kirat, Sherpa, Bhotey-Lama and Bheri-Karnalai states.<br/><br/>Various Non-Maoist parties Nepali Congress criticized the Maoist move as a clear violation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the interim constitution and demanded withdrawal of unilateral declaration of states, bypassing the constituent assembly. The Maoists have however termed their move as a publicity campaign and pressure-tactic on the government to declare autonomous states.<br/>
