In Nepal, the Chairman of the Unified CPN(Maoist) Prachanda today met the Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and discussed integration and rehabilitation of the Maoists army and drafting of the constitution by May 28 dateline.<br/><br/>Talking to newsmen, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal said he had sought the cooperation of the Maoist Chairman on drafting of the new constitution by the scheduled date and to begin the Maoist army integration process at the earliest. <br/><br/>He said an alternative to the present dispensation can be discussed after the promulgation of the new constitution.<br/><br/>Briefing newsmen, Prachanda said he had stressed the need to resolve the current political stalemate to ensure completion of the peace process and timely drafting of the new constitution.<br/><br/>AIR Correspondent reports that Maoist Chairman Prachanda's meeting with the Prime Minister followed his meeting with the President Dr Ram Ram Baran and the Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala on Wednesday.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the opposition Unified CPN (Maoist) has sought the support of various smaller parties in the Constituent Assembly to form a new government under its leadership at meeting held a meeting with the representatives of the fringe parties in Karthmandu today. <br/><br/>The Maoist however said it will continue its discussions with the major ruling parties Nepali Congress and the CPN(UML) to arrive at a consensus to resolve the current political deadlock and form a Maoist led national government. The Maoists have been saying that the new constitution cannot be promulgated unless a government under its leadership is formed.<br/>
