CPM urges Centre to dissuade Mamata Bannerjee from visiting Lalgarh

The CPIM has urged the Centre to dissuade the Railway Minister, Ms. Mamta Bannerjee to visit Lalgarh alleging that her programme there is aimed at shoring of the falling morale of the Maoists and their lot in the Peoples Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA).In a letter to the Prime Minister, the CPM Member of Parliament, Pulin Bihari Baske has said that there have been a number of arrests of Maoists and PCPA activists and thousands of people are protesting against them. He said that the Railway Minister's initiative is timed to defeat the Centre's position on the issue.He said that in the interest of restoring peaceful atmosphere and the development of people, Ms. Bannerjee should be persuaded to desist from the allegedly disastrous course that she has chosen to pursue. Lalgarh falls in Jhargram Constituency of Baske.
