In Nepal, the ruling CPM-UML has suggested extension of the term of the Constituent Assembly in consultation with other parties after having come to the conclusion that the new constitution cannot be drafted within the May 28 dateline. <br/> <br/>Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal said the parliamentary party has stressed the need to build a consensus among the parties on issues ranging from the formation of a national unity government to the integration and management of Maoist combatants. He was talking to news persons after the Parliamentary Party meeting in Kathmandu on Monday. <br/> <br/>Khanal said the period of extension of the term of the constituent assembly will depend on discussions with other parties after assessing the works completed so far on the peace process and drafting of the constitution.<br/> <br/>The ruling CPN-UML became the first politcal party to suggest extension of the term of the Constituent Assembly at a time when the opposition Unified CPN(Maoist) have announced launching of fresh agitation to complete the drafting of constitution and peace process by the May 28 dateline.<br/>
