CPI(M) says it will opt for electoral understanding with the secular forces and strengthen the attempts to isolate the BJP. The Party General Secretary Prakash Karat told reporters after a three-day-long central committee meeting in New Delhi this evening that the party will continue to oppose what he called the neo liberal policies of the ruling Congress. He said that the central committee discussed the draft political resolution and the future course of action in the light of severing ties with the UPA.He however said that the final view on the draft will be taken in the extended central committee meeting to be held in Vijaywada, Andhra pradesh, next month. He admitted that the new political line of the party will be different from the one adopted at the CPI(M) Congress in Coimbatore in 2008. On the BJP, the political draft says that the party is practising communal politics and the CPI(M) will politically fight the BJP in a bid to isolate it. The party has also decided to oppose the government policy to strengthen the strategic alliance with the US which is influencing the independent foreign policy of India.
