CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat has said that the BJP is no alternative to Congress party at the Centre since the party is also mired in corruption charges in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. Inaugurating the four day CPI(M) state meeting in Thiruvananthapuram, he alleged that due to the neo-liberalisation policies of the UPA government social inequality is increasing in the country. Mr Karat said that the present economic policy is facilitating growth of corruption. Mr. Karat said that his party is not engaged in combating any religion. He claimed that CPI(M) is the most secular party in India. He also blamed the Congress led UDF government in Kerala for leveling baseless allegations of corruption against Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan and party state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan.
