CPIM opposes US &NATO military intervention in Libya

CPIM has strongly opposed any move towards military intervention by US and NATO in the strife-torn Libya. Party politburo in a statement said, it is for the people of Libya to decide how to resolve their problems and what kind of a political system they need. The party said, the US and its allies have no right whatsoever to violate the sovereignty of Libya in the name of humanitarian intervention. The CPI(M) alleged that as in Iraq earlier, the western powers were interested mainly in the oil wealth of Libya and seek to utilise the revolt against the Gaddafi regime to pursue their own interests.
