CPIM opposes formation of separate state of Telangana

The CPIM today opposed the formation of a separate state of Telangana saying that such decisions will have adverse effect on the integrity of the nation. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, CPIM leader Sitaram Yechury said that the formation of states should be on the basis of language as decided earlier. Describing the formation of smaller states an obstruction to the process of economic development, Mr. Yechury said that the CPIM opposed formation of Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Uttaranchal as well. Saying that the formation of Telangana may fuel demands for carving out other such states, Mr. Yechury cautioned the government that no further division should take place.<br/>
