The CPIM demanded a structured debate on the Liberhan Commission’s report. Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Tuesday, CPIM leader Sitaram Yechury said the culprits mentioned in the report should be brought to justice. Describing the Babri Masjid demolition as an assault on the secular fabric of the country, Mr. Yechury said that the BJP should apologise for its alleged connections to the demolition. Mr. Yechury also said that the reactions by some parties on the floor of the House was an attempt to arouse communal sentiments in the country. He however added that the days for communal politics are past.
