The CPI(M) has strongly condemned the arrest of Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt. A Party Politbureau statement issued in New Delhi has demanded immediate release of Bhatt and appropriate protection to be accorded to him. The Party has alleged that the Gujarat government is resorting to all coercive and illegal measures to cover up its role in the communal pogroms of 2002.
