CPIM calls for comprehensive law against honour killings

CPIM has called for a comprehensive law against honour killings. Expressing deep concern over the continuing phenomenon of such killings, the Party's Polit Bureau demanded firm action against those who are responsible for honour killings. <br/><br/>The CPIM, which concluded its two-day meeting in New Delhi today, held UPA government responsible for the spiralling prices of food items and essential commodities. It also criticised the government's refusal to reconsider the decision to roll back the increase in the prices of petroleum products. <br/><br/>The party appealed to all sections of the people to join the day-long hartal tomorrow to protest against the price rise. <br/><br/>A party press release said the Polit Bureau endorsed the decision of the left parties to conduct an extensive campaign on the demands for a comprehensive food security legislation.<br/><br/>The Polit Bureau denounced the continuing violence and attacks on party workers in West Bengal and called upon democratic and progressive circles to condemn such incidents.
