CPI(M) approaches NCW over custodial torture, sexual abuse

The CPI(M) has approached the National Commission for Women (NCW) over alleged custodial torture and sexual abuse of its four women activists in West Bengal.<br/><br/> Party Politburo member Brinda Karat, who led the delegation to the NCW over the issue submitted a memorandum to NCW chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam in New Delhi yesterday. <br/><br/>She said, the Commission promptly constituted a team to probe the matter and assured urgent redressal of the complaint.<br/><br/>Mr Karat also attacked Mamata Banerjee-led government in the state over the issue, saying it is guilty of blatant violation of all standards to treat those in custody, particularly women prisoners. <br/>'''''<br/>
