The CPI today said the reduction of petrol price by 2 rupees per litre by the oil companies is a partial victory after a nationwide protest by the Left and other opposition parties.

In a statement, the party central secretariat said the crude oil prices in the international market will come down shortly and in this background the reduction is an eye-wash.

The party said that excise and customs duties should be reduced by the centre and sales taxes should be reduced by the states on petrol prices to give relief to the common people.
