The Left Front has swept the polls in Tripura, winning 50 seats in the 60 member assembly. The Congress bagged remaining 10 seats. It had the same number of MLAs in the outgoing assembly. The BJP which contested 46 seats drew blank.

In Meghalaya, Congress is just one short of the absolute majority winning 29 seats in the 60 member assembly but its alliance partner in the outgoing assembly United Democratic Party has won eight seats and Independants and others eleven. The NCP has bagged two seat and NPP in one. The Hill State Peoples Democratic Party has secured three constituencies. One result is yet to come in.

In Nagaland, the ruling Naga Peoples Front gets absolute majority winning 37 of the 59 constituencies elections for which were held in the 60 member House. Election to one seat was counter-manded due to the death of a candidate.

The Congress has won in eight constituencies and NCP in four. BJP and Janata Dal United have bagged one seat each and others have been declared elected in eight seats. In the outgoing House, the NPF had 26 seats and Congress 23.

Prominent winners in Tripura are – the State Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Assembly Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath and Senior Left front leaders and Ministers including Anil Sarkar, Badal Choudhury, Manindra Reyang, Aghore Deb Barman. But Science and Technology minister and RSP candidate Jay Govinda Deb Ray lost their elections.

Prominent losers in the state include INPT President Vijay Kumar Ranghkal and Science and Technology Minister and RSP candidate Jay Govinda Deb Ray. Five women candidates of CPIM have won the election.

In Meghalaya, Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma, his wife Dikanchi D Shira and younger brother Zenith Sangma, former Chief Minister and MPCC President Dr. D.D. Lapang have won their assembly seats. Deputy Chief Minister and UDP working president Bindo M Lanong has been defeated. Former chief minister and Congress candidate S.C. Marak has made a comeback defeating former deputy chief minister Timothy D Shira of the NCP.

In Nagaland, in Dimapur-I constituency, former Nagaland Chief Minister K.L. Chishi of Congress has been defeated while in Northern Angami-II constituency, State Chief Minister and NPF leader Mr. Neiphiu Rio has been declared elected by defeating his rival Congress candidate Kevise Sogotsu over a margin of twelve thousand votes.
