The Communist Party of India has condemned the go-ahead signal given to POSCO for setting up a steel plant in Odisha. In a statement the party termed as sham the 60 new conditions imposed by the Environment and Forest Ministry. The party said that the several committees set up to look into the matter had clearly indicted POSCO for violating all laws and regulations connected with the rights of forest dwellers and environmental conditions. The South Korean steel giant Posco was granted conditional clearance yesterday by the Environment Ministry for its 52,000 crore rupees plant in the state.
