The CPI today appealed to the Maoists to release unconditionally the abducted Sukuma District Collector, Alex Paul Menon. In a statement, party Central Secretariat said, Mr. Menon should be released on humane considerations immediately as he is not well and needs immediate medical attention. The party also expressed serious concern over the kidnappings of the foreign tourists and the abduction of BJD MLA, Jhina Haika in Orissa. The CPI said, Maoists should stop this type of abductions and killings and respect human values.
