<span style="color: #222222;">A special scheme for the manufacturing of beds and pillows for the Covid 19 wards being set up in various hospitals across Tamil Nadu has been taken up on an urgent basis by the historic Gandhi Ashram, founded by India's first Governor General C Rajagopalachari in 1925, at Thiruchenkode near Namakkal, Tamil Nadu.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Secretary of the ashram Mr Chidambaram said that about 20 to 35 beds are being made daily. This is providing employment and earnings for the 1000 and odd employees of the ashram.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The beds are being manufactured using special grade cotton that is being directly procured from farmers in Salem, Namakkal, Karur as well as Erode districts. This brings down the cost of production to a great extent.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Ashram authorities also said that sanitizers, soaps and bar soaps are also being manufactured. The soaps and bar soaps are value added with special sanitizing ingredients.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The products of the ashram are being procured by the district authorities in Salem and Namakkal districts. Plans have been made to distribute them in the neighboring Karur and Erode districts also.</span><br />
