COVID-19 vaccines for children in the age group of 2-18 years may become available in India by October. Director of National Institute of Virology ' NIV in Pune, Ms. Priya Abraham has said that results of phase 2 and 3 trials of Covaxin in children will soon be presented to the regulator while Zydus Cadila's vaccine is also in the pipeline.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #000000;">It is worth to note that it was NIV that isolated the coronavirus strain and gave it to Bharat Biotech International Limited in April 2020, following which they developed a whole virion-inactivated vaccine, COVAXIN. The Pune based institute also conducted the preclinical trials and helped with the clinical trails in terms of diagnostics and laboratory support.</span><br />
