<span style="color: #222222;">Leading global scientists and vaccine experts have expressed that Covid-19 vaccine trials must conform to the highest standards of patient safety and ethical norms while exploring fast tracking methods.<br />”<br />”The Indian Council of Medical Research convened an online symposium on novel approaches in science and ethics of vaccine development yesterday.<br />”<br />”Speaking at the event, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Prof. K. Vijay Raghavan said, the scientific community must come together to find a timely solution to this pandemic. He said, vaccine development under pandemic conditions is much more challenging than in ordinary times.<br />”<br />”Appreciating the efforts of India in its contributions to vaccine development and preparedness, Director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, USA, Dr Anthony Fauci said, India’s research and development capacity will be integrated into global efforts to address COVID-19 crisis.<br />”<br />”Director of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Professor Peter Piot said, a vaccine is urgently needed to contain COVID-19 and to achieve this, coordinated efforts to find a bold solution is needed.<br />”<br />”Speaking during the symposium, Director General of ICMR, Prof. Balram Bhargava said, India has to be at the forefront of global vaccine preparedness.<br />”<br />”The symposium brought together more than 250 leading scientists, ethicists, public health leaders and community leaders from India and abroad to discuss the challenges and opportunities in vaccine development.&nbsp;</span><br />
