Covid-19 vaccination to continue during state-wide lockdown in Odisha

Odisha government has decided to continue covid-19 vaccination even during the period of state-wide lockdown beginning tomorrow. In an order to the district collectors, it has asked them to allow people to visit the covid-19 vaccination centres on all days of the week except Sundays to get vaccinated. The 14 days' lockdown till the 19th of this month has been imposed by the state government to contain the viral surge. AIR correspondent reports, amid vaccine inadequacy, the state government has prioritised vaccination of all categories of beneficiaries for whom the second vaccine shots are due. As on date, more than 59 lakh people of the state have been vaccinated with over 46000 covered yesterday.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, in view of the pandemic-induced lockdown in Odisha, the Election Commission of India has deferred the polling for by election to Pipili Assembly constituency of the state, that was scheduled on the 16th of May. On the other hand, the state's covid-19 active caseload has shot up further to about 72 thousand with nearly 9 thousand new cases detected during the last 24 hours.</span><br />
